The Hoover EmPower Upright Vacuum Cleaner works effectively on carpet and hard floors. The dust bin is a little bit small and does need to be emptied fairly frequently. Because it is bag-less, emptying the bin can unfortunately be a bit of a dusty mess. The Vacuum is of sufficient power and light enough weight to be very easy to maneuver; it does not require significant strength and could be used by a child or elderly person without issue. It stores in a fairly compact space because the handle collapses, which also makes it easier to carry around while using the attachments. The attachments are of average quality and work effectively.
One issue I had, though, was that the small clip designed to hold the tube attachments on the side of the vacuum broke off and I was unable to fix it. This does not impact the functionality of the vacuum, but is unfortunate and does reduce the convenience slightly. I have had no maintenance issues with the vacuum in the one year I have owned it. I have not needed to have it fixed or replace any parts. I have reviewed the manual to learn how to replace the parts, should I need to, and it seemed usable and clear. I believe it would be relatively easy to fix if I needed to make minor, routine repairs. Finally, the price was good. It’s much less expensive than many of the vacuums I checked when I made my purchase decision.

Hoover EMPOWER This vacuum cleaner is a durable unit for home use. The vacuum features an upright stance and a “bagless” system so the ease of cleaning is complemented by the fact that no bags have to be purchased. The waste container is removed easily for dirt disposal but according to directions, cannot be washed nor sprayed.
The unit is also power-driven and further features a power button to increase suction capabilities in difficult cleaning situations. Like all vacuums, the noise volume is high but the time saved because of the great suction power seems to outweigh the noise level. Attachments are conveniently housed along the back-side of the unit and are easily removed for use and just as easly replaced when no longer needed.
The cord system for this vacuum features a very long cord thereby reducing the need to back-track to a plug to relocate the unit when in use. The cord also wraps around handy knobs along the side of the vacuum for very convenient storage. General maintenance for this unit for normal use is clearly explained in the accompanying owner’s manual.
Customer support is available via a toll-free number to the company. Belt replacement is very easy to accomplish without the assistance of a professional when following the guidelines in the customer booklet and when using a Hoover replacement belt. Considering the suction capability of this unit and the convenience for tool storage right on the unit, this vacuum is suitable for home use.
