Pros

- Great suction over a wide variety of surfaces.
- Easy to see when the filters and dust cup need cleaning

Cons

- Hair and debris can get clogged in the brush roller bearings, reducing motor life.
- The duster and its housing tend to pull apart even when you don’t want them to. This reduces suction.

We own a Siberian Husky, a breed of dog that sheds a LOT in the summer. Our Eureka Altima does a fine job of keeping up. It pulls a load of fur out of the three different styles of carpet in our house (from short pile tight weave, to deep pile plush). The hose and crevice tool attachments work perfectly, though the same cannot be said for the included side-mounted dusting attachment.

The duster tends to pull loose from its housing which compromises the suction of the vacuum. The good news is that the duster and its housing can be removed entirely from the vacuum if so desired. The vacuum has proven to be durable after several years of heavy use and cleaning the various parts of the machine is quite easy. Be sure to keep the filters and debris collector clean, as clogged filters can reduce suction a great deal. Also, keep an eye on the brush roller as hair can get wrapped around the bearings on which this roller spins. If this happens the motor will have to work harder to spin the roller and motor life can be reduced.
