Pros
- Small and lightweight, easy to maneuver around the house.
- Emptying the dust cup is a simple process.

Cons
- Filter bracket is made of flimsy plastic, and may break when trying to replace the filter.
- No self-winding cord.

The Eureka Optima is a great vacuum cleaner for your apartment or small sized house. It is small, lightweight (only 12 pounds), and easy to use for various cleanup tasks around the house. The handle is telescoping, so it adjusts to your height and most comfortable position.

The brush roller can be turned on, or off (“on” for getting deep into your carpets, “off” for cleaning bare floors). With a simple twist of a knob, the Optima can switch from floor cleaning mode to hand tool cleaning mode. The included on-board attachments will help clean hard to reach nooks and under sofas, as well as light dusting on and around cabinets and appliances.

Cleaning the Optima is a breeze. It’s bagless design means that a simple push of the “release” button will unhook the Easy-Empty dust cup, and a twist of the top will allow you to empty its contents. There is a anti-allergen filter in the dust cup, which will help minimize airborne dust. (HEPA-compliant filters are sold separately.)

The cord is about 20 feet long, and winds easily onto the back of the unit. There is a light indicator at the base of the unit that will tell if the brush roller is “on” or “off”. This is very convenient as sometimes the roller may get jammed with hair and carpet fuzz. Overall, the Optima is a great compromise between a full-sized vacuum cleaner and a hand-vac. Priced at around $60, it is also a bargain for the cleaning power and features it provides.

Pros
- Lightweight
- Compact

Cons
- Weak wheels (Eureka’s customer service is awesome for replacements!)
- Attachments don’t hold properly

This vacuum cleaner has been a long time coming for our family. After having bulky, heavy, cumbersome vacuums, Eureka’s Optima Bagless Upright is here to stay in our household. Our home has carpet, tile, and stairs and the Optima can handle it all!

There is a spinning brush for carpet areas and it can be shut off with a quick click of a switch at the top of the vacuum for tile or hardwood floors. It has great suction power for a compact machine (12amps). The canister can hold a great deal of dirt but I always suggest to empty it out often and clean off the filter to get maximum suction.

You will be impressed with what the little guy picks up. The suction using the tools is awesome as well. I have 4 cats and it picks up their hair easily on our sofa and chairs using the attachable brush.

The handle is big enough to get a grip and length of the handle can be adjusted to your preference. An indicator light tells you if there is a suction problem. Inside the canister is a filter cup which can be cleaned off (I tap it lightly inside a plastic bag to loosen the dirt).

You can get the filter from any popular discount mega store or order it online. Overall, the vacuum has done wonders for us with minor difficulties and I would never switch to another vacuum until they discontinue this one!
