Pros
- Has nimble stair design
- Rolls well around obstacles

Cons
- It is expensive
- It is not safe to use this machine on wet surfaces

I bought my Dyson DC23 on my 26th wedding anniversary – not as an anniversary gift but really I was so thrilled with this vacuum cleaner I told my friends and family that I would have been happy to receive this item as a gift. I know – I have told my husband over the years that household appliances do not make romantic presents. So when I say I love my Dyson 23, it is true.

Mr. Dyson actually seems to have vacuumed floors and it shows in this machine. Why? The telescopic hose actually works and does not strain your back while it adjusts to different heights when reaching under furniture. It is compact and has the force I need to get into tight spots.

The ball design allows the machine to manoeuvre around our crowed house and I spend way less time plugging the machine back in as the cord is not jerked around as the machine catches on fewer obstacles. I have a parrot and feathers fly everywhere but this machine with its versatile attachments captures them easily without sucking up computer wires or knocking over the wine rack. Also my family has allergies and this machine with its Hepa filter has really helped lower the number of sneezes.

I am grateful that I will not have to buy bags that are hard to hunt down when your machine is more than a few years old. Mostly I am pleased with the stair climbing function. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had a vacuum come crashing down the stairs because it was too big to balance on the steps.

The compact size makes it easy carry and it is much easier to store than our last machine. It is hard to say bad things about a device that stands head and shoulders above other models, but if I had to, I would say that it is expensive and with a parrot (who regularly tosses water from his perches) in the house I worry about short circuits as it is not safe to use this machine on wet surfaces.

The pros are also hard because there are more than two; but, I like the machine’s nimble stair design and the fact that the machine rolls well around obstacles, the most.
