Pros
- Would be the all floor surface cleaning
- The suction power.

Cons
- Would be the price
- When using with hard floor surfaces its not as easy to maneuver.

My Dyson D-18 is the most reliable vacuum I have ever owned. I am a person who enjoys vacuuming, seeing the results immediately. I have went through about a vacuum a year since being an adult due to loss of suction, burning up or not having the proper accessories.

The Dyson D-18 is lightweight so you can take it on the stairs with ease. It has the on/off brush mode to get hard floor surfaces as well. The wand extends to 20 ft for reaching all items. The wand has a very high suction power allowing you to clean ceilings, fans, lighting fixtures and high cabinets.

The attachment for fabric is perfect for cleaning hair off of furniture as well. The brush accessory I use most for cleaning the woodwork and trim in my home.
You can empty the canister out and remove contents very easily with no issue. The filter is easy to reach in order to remove for proper cleaning and never needs to be replaced.

I have used this heavily for over 3 years now. That being all flooring in my home at least once a day. It has got too full when I didn't empty it out fast enough and the line clogged. Dyson has an easy to use website for trouble shooting problems that is interactive as well. It walked us through fixing the clog and it worked just like a charm again.

Pros
- light weight
- great suction

Cons
- expensive
- some cheap parts

Dyson Slim The Dyson Slim is the best of both worlds. It is light weight and agile, yet has an exceptional amount of suction. It is also very easy to maneuver into hard to reach places. The disposal system is very easy to use, requires no vacuum bag, and makes for quick and clean deposits of dirt into the trash. All you need to do is remove a chamber, and push a button over the garbage can, and the chamber empties into the trash (sometimes, if there is a lot of hair for example, you may need to reach into the chamber to pull the "stuff" out).

This vacuum, although very good, is not without it's faults. The stand that holds the vacuum in the upright position is very weak, and sometimes the vacuum will fall on it's own. Also, the extensions are not the best quality, they are certainly usable, it is just they are not as great as the rest of the vacuum. The cost is another point worth discussing, as this product is quite expensive.

You could certainly find a comparable vacuum at a cheaper price. The price also makes the odd shortcomings (cheap extensions and weak stand) much more noticeable. If you want the absolute best (or want to impress your friends), the Dyson is the way to go. However, if you can accept a very good vacuum at a much cheaper price, save your money and hide your vacuum in the closet. At this price, though, mine is sitting in plain view for everyone to behold.
